Heitor Villa-Lobos - note on files The Dissertations (VILDIS) are limited to those written in English. There are several others written in French and Portugese. as far as I know. VILCMP is a selected worklists compiled from one found in the biography of Villa-Lobos by Mariz Vasco and the article by Lisa Peppercorn found in the International Cyclopedia. A complete work list can be found in the bio-bibliography by David Appleby. Dates of publication were included when they were available. VILARL contains all articles that deal with Villa-Lobos or his works. Sources used for this compilation were the Music Index and bibliographies from various reference sources. Not included in this search are the articles written for foriegn magazines unless they had an English edition. Nor are concert or record reviews included. I found that these did not give much information about the work or the composer as much as they did the performers. Most of these reviews were found in Musical Quarterly, Musical America, Musical Courier, And Saturday Review. Reviews were included in the search if a biograhy was included in the review. VILDSC is derived from a discogoraphy found in David Appelby's Bio-bibliography on Villa-Lobos and from the Opus reference guide. This list is a selcted one based on record labels in english or produced in the United States. The Museum of Villa-Lobos produces several recordings but these are not included in this list. ASB 4/92
