SIMNOT - Paul Simon N.B. - this collection is only good through 1988. SIMBIB contains references on which my paper is based . The Cohen (1977) biography is a good chronology of Simon's and Garfunkel's careers which also offers criticism of their work. Ewen's American Songwriters (1987) provides more facts about Simon's childhood. Leigh's biography (1973) also includes factual information and criticism, mainly about Simon's solo career, but I discovered that some of his "facts" are incorrect. Simon's birthdate is recorded inconsistently; five different sources quote four different dates. I chose to cite October 13, 1941, from the New Grove Dictionary of American Music. SIMBOK contains three books on P.S. SIMREF contains dictionaries and encyclopedias which include material about Paul Simon. Ewen's American Songwriters (1987) is the best. Logan and Woffinden (1982) is also good and has pictures. SIMDSC is a listing of Simon's recordings of his music. The source is Cohen (1977) and the current Schwann catalog. All of Simon's writing (except for the movie, One Trick Pony, which is in the SIMWRIT file) appears on discs, therefore there is no Sicomp file. SIMWRI (see above) SIMARL is a listing of all periodical entries about Simon in The Readers' Guide, the Music Index, and cited in periodicals and biographies listed in Simbib, Simgen, and Simsbib files. SIMNSP - highly selective The paper and file include material by and about Paul Simon. It does not include information about Simon's material as performed by other artists. JL - 10/88
