SIEBIB - Elie Siegmeister Selected Bibliography
excellent information appears on Elie Siegmeister in the books of 
Tischler and Zuck (which appear in this file).

SIEREF - Elie Siegmeister General Bibliography
Information on Elie Siegmeister can be found in most music dictionaries 
and encyclopedias (exspecially those dealing more specifically with 
twentieth-century and/or American music).  The dictionaries and 
encyclopedias containing information on the composer appear in this file.  
One excellent article concerning the music (particularly dramatic music) 
of Siegmeister appears in the recently published New Grove Dictionary of 
Opera (l993).

SIEBOM - Elie Siegmiester:  Major appearances in Histories, etc.
Although Siegmeister's name appears in many contemporary music
histories, I found that most of them make small mention of the composer's 
works.  If one were doing any kind of in depth study on Siegmeister I 
would not recommend searching through music histories.

SIEARL - Periodical articles on Elie Siegmeister
I was surprised to see so many periodical articles on Siegmeister, 
especially throughout the last two decades.  Most of the information 
contained in this file was found in the Music Index.

SIEDIS - Siegmeister Dissertations, Theses, etc.
Siegmeister's music has fortunately been explored in a number of
unpublished items (even one Master's Thesis from UNCG).  I found most 
of these (but not all) in the Music Index in reference to their 
appearance in Dissertation Abstractions.

SIECMP - Siegmeister's works
Most of the compostions were found at the end of articles on
Siegmeister, and fortunately I found much information concerning the 
publication of the composer's music.  This list is undoubtedly incomplete 
since I was unable to locate a complete works list; but I believe that 
the information regarding Siegmeister's published music is nearly complete.  
I was surprised to see many of his works premiered in Louisiana
(Shreveport).

SIEWRI - Siegmeister's writings
Siegmeister wrote a number of scholarly articles (found mostly in the 
Music Index), a couple of theory texts, and of course Music and Society.  
Several of the entries in this file are references to books Siegmeister 
had edited.

SIEDSC - Siegmeister discography
Unfortunately there are not too many recordings available of
Siegmeister's music.  In fact Siegmeister's best work (at least according 
to Siegmeister and myself), The Plough and the Stars, is unavailable.  
Most of these recordings were found from an OCLC search.
