PECNOTE In the spring of 1990, Greensboro composer Russell Peck visited the American Music Seminar. Conversations covered Peck's development as a composer, his education at the Eastman School and the University of Michigan, as well as various teachers including Ross Lee Finney. He also discussed the New-Music activities in Ann Arbor, Michigan during the '60's and early '70's. The members of the seminar had listened to several of Peck's compositions, including Signs of Life for string orchestra. Discussions surrounded this and other pieces, Peck's concepts of style and his feelings about the orchestra.
