John Kander and Fred Ebb - note on files



This bibliography project covers the life and music of the American

Broadway composer John Kander.  The files that have been included are

as follows:



KANARL-This file contains all of the periodicals that can be found

dealing with Kander or his music.  There are some reviews included, but

most of the reviews for his musicals can be found in the series New York

Theatre Critics Reviews by Joan Marlowe. (Included in KANSBIB)  This

multi-volume work contains reviews from all of the major newspapers and

magazines in New York.  Since these reviews, which number in the hundreds,

are listed in their entirety in this series, they have been omitted from

this list.



KANDSC-This file contains a complete discography of the works of John

Kander.  There are some works which have numerous recordings, most of

which are re-issues of the original cast recording.  Of special interest

are the foreign recordings of some of the musicals. The recordings are

listed in alphabetical order by the name of the musical and includes a

listing of the songs that were recorded on the albums.  Any differences

are noted within the individual entry. This file also includes any

recordings of his film and television music as well as the available

video recordings.



KANCMP-This file contains a listing of Kander's compositions and the

published librettos and scores that have been published.  Many of the

works do not have any published materials, so they are just listed by

name. The works are divided into categories and within the sections the

works are listed in alphabetical order by the name of the work.



KANDIS-This file contains a listing of theses and dissertations that

are about Kander.  In this case, there are no documents that are about

John Kander specifically, but there were some that dealt with some of

his compositions.



KANWRI-I was only able to find one article written by John Kander.



KANFLM-This file contains a listing of the film and television

soundtracks John Kander has written.
