Duke Ellington James Newton, teaches at University of California, Irvine Music Dept. Los Angeles Phil recently commissioned a new piece by him - yet to be performed Alvin Singleton. He used to be composer in residence with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. may still be in Atlanta.
