Leonard Bernstein - note on files



     This bibliography makes no attempt to include all the writings by or

about Leonard Bernstein since the work only focuses on Bernstein the

educator.  The most helpful source for this research has been Jack

Gottlieb's book, Leonard Bernstein: A Complete Catalogue of his Works,

which includes Bernstein works, a bibliography, and discography up through

1977.

     Other general information, including a more up-to-date bibliography

and work list, was included in the Amerigrove article on Leonard Bernstein

by Joan Peyser.

     The following information will be helpful in using this bibliography.

All of Bernstein's published books and a selected list of articles by Bernstein

are included in file BERWRI.  File BERDIS includes all dissertations written

about Bernstein and his works.  A classified list and and chronological list

of Bernstein's works can be found in file BERCMP.
